Anna Budanova was born in the Ekaterinburg, Russia. Loved to draw since childhood. In 2005 entered in Animation Department in the Architectural Academy of Art. While studying, she worked as artist and animator on various films. She was involved in some student festivals. After graduating in 2011, Anna made her first short, The Wound in 2013, which received several international prizes including Special Jury Award International Animation Film Festival Annecy 2013 and Grand Prize of Japan Media Arts Festival 2015.
