In this presentation, Max Hattler discusses some of his experimental animation films, video installations and audiovisual performances, and the ways in which they navigate and probe the complex relationships between abstraction and figuration, movement and meaning, sound and image, and aesthetics and politics.

Max Hattler l
Max Hattler is an artist and academic who works in abstract animation, video installation and audiovisual performance. He holds an MA from the Royal College of Art and a Doctorate in Fine Art from the University of East London. Hattler has performed live around the world, and his video work has been shown at numerous international festivals and won many awards. Hattler lives in Hong Kong, where he is an assistant professor in the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong.
